Thanks
to all of you who attended the first CVIM meeting of the year, and also who came
to Back to School Night! Here’s an update on CVIM’s activities:
Support Campaign:
We’re extremely grateful to the families who have already responded to our
Support Campaign letter. We need to raise $30,000, and our goal is to receive
some contribution – any amount you can donate will help – from every
parent who has a student in the instrumental music program. Remember, you can
also ask your company to match your donation; or you can seek donations from
friends or family who want to help make CVHS instrumental music the best it can
be.
E-scrip: Could
you donate $5,000 to CVIM?! If you sign up for eScrip, then you could:
my total contribution to CVIM is already over $4,200 for the year!! All
I did was buy groceries, clothes, etc., using my Vons, Macy’s, and debit cards;
and a portion of my purchase was donated to CVIM. Please go to
www.escrip.com and register your cards (CVIM’s group ID is #149030987).
Also, register your Ralphs card at
www.ralphs.com (click on Community Contribution, then Participation SignUp
-- CVIM is NPO#83777).
Car wash: The
car wash is Saturday, September 29th: how many tickets has
your student sold? Be sure to come out Saturday morning and get your car washed
(for only $5!) and help CV instrumental music!
Parent participation:
To the parents already helping out at football games, etc., many thanks. To the
rest of you, remember that “many hands make light work,” and even helping out
one time will help make it possible for our students to have a great music
program. Check the website and attend CVIM meetings to find out what’s coming
up that involves your student. At the very least, I encourage you, as a parent
myself, to actively support your student’s musical activities at CVHS by
attending performances and cheering for our students.
Next CVIM meeting
is Tuesday, October 9th, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 3102 at
CVHS. Come to our monthly meetings and find out the latest news on department
activities.
CVIM is an IRC Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt,
non-profit charitable organization that supports the CVHS instrumental music
program by raising money and providing volunteers for music department events.
All donations to CVIM are fully tax-deductible. CVIM supports the activities of
all the CVHS instrumental music groups: Symphony Orchestra, Marching/Concert
Band, Jazz Band, String Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble.
Sincerely,
Susan Cross Stanley
