Homecoming Bonfire

What: We'll perform pep-songs for the annual Bonfire Rally

What to bring & wear:  Marching Band shirt. Instrument and music. 
Misc:  This is the annual Homecoming Bonfire Rally.  We will march around the track and play music while the Associated Student Body burns our opponent  (La Canada) in effigy.  The whole event should last about 1 hour for the band.

3rd Annual Rosemont - CVHS Football Night - Rehearsal
When:  Wednesday, October 1st, 2003
Where: CVHS Upper Field (meet in Band Room 3106)
Who: Marching Band, Drum Line and Rosemont Students
What: Practice for Homecoming.  Students will form 2 lines on the field. 
Report Time: 5:00 p.m.
Dismiss Time: 6:00 p.m.
What to bring & wear:  Instrument, Music, Comfortable Clothes and shoes (no open toe sandles) 
Misc:  This rehearsal is important so that everyone knows where they will stand and play during homecoming.

Ensemble Concert I - 1st Audition
When: Setpember 26th, 2003
What: All groups need to play 30 seconds of their ensemble piece.  This will be the first of 3 graded auditions which will be figured into the final performance grade on November 19.  The Ensemble Concert will be in the Drama Room.

What: We will perform pep songs in the stands and our field show during half-time support our football team
Report Time: 4:30 p.m. at CVHS
Dismiss Time: @11:00 p.m.
What to bring & wear:  Marching Band shirt for under your uniform. Marching Shoes and gloves.  Instrument and music. 
Fines for replacing Shoes are $30.00 and  Gloves are  $5.00.  
DON'T FORGET.  If you don't have your complete uniform, you won't be able to perform and your grade will suffer. 
Misc:  All home football games are played at GHS Moyse Field.  Click on the address above for directions.  This is our first home game.  We will meet at CVHS to load the buses and parent trucks, then drive down to GHS.  We are responsible for the Star Spangled Banner and half-time.  .  
There will be a 3rd quarter break during the football game where band members may get refreshments.  No eating "messy" (i.e. nachos, chili) while in uniform.

Parent Meeting

Entertainment Book Fundraiser

What: Selling Entertainment books to raise $$ for the music department 
Misc: Books Sell for $21.00.  Students get $5.00 credit in their accounts for each book sold.  Each student is expected to sell at least 1 book.
Each book has hundreds of coupons when if used correctly, will save you lots of money.  My wife and I use the book all the time and we've saved more than $100.00.  Yea!!

Band Camp

Where: CVHS Instrumental Music Room and Field - 1st Day, report to Room 3102. 
Who:  Everyone in Marching Band and Drum Line
What: Band Camp - we learn the field show, pep songs, and Parade March for the year.
Report Time: 9:00 a.m.
Dismiss Time: 4:00 p.m.     (Lunch break from 12:00 - 1:00) 
What to bring & wear: Comfortable Clothes ( i.e. Tennis shoes, (no sandals), shorts, t-shirt, hat, sun glasses).  Suntan lotion, water, instrument, pencil, notebook, lunch or $$ for lunch.  Click here for more info.
Misc: Each student needs to pay a $10.00 band camp fee.  The money will help pay for coaches, water and snacks.  If anyone has trouble coming up with the $$, let me know.  We have ways to earn $$.  We will be outside at least 3-4 hours a day.  There will be a cooler provided where students can store their own water bottles.  Make sure to write your name on your bottle before you place it in the cooler.  If you don't have an instrument, you will be able to rent one during Band Camp.
YES!!  Band Camp is Mandatory!!!  It is vital that we all attend because we will be learning our field positions.  There are over 90 students enrolled in Band this year and I'm only writing the show for 60-70 students.  People that don't come to Band Camp will be "alternates."  We'll also be assigning Uniforms and Lockers during Band Camp.

Beach Trip 
When: Saturday August 23th, 2003
Where: Zuma Beach  (meet at CVHS first)
Who:  Marching Band Musicians and Drum Line
What: Relaxing Beach trip to break up an intense Band Camp
Report Time: 9:00 a.m. at CVHS
Dismiss Time: 4:00 p.m. (we will leave Zuma around 3:00 p.m.)
What to bring & wear: Beach gear!!!  (Frisbee, volleyball, football, boogie board, etc..) Bathing Suit, Suntan lotion, blanket, lunch, $$
Misc: This is a great time to relax with your newly made friends and enjoy a day at the beach.  
We will need some parent volunteers to help drive kids to the beach.  Please contact Mr. Schick ASAP.  Click on Zuma Beach to find out more information about the beach.

Drum Line Practice 
When: Monday August 11th - Friday 15th, 2003
Where: CVHS Instrumental Music Room and field
Who:  Drum line and Marching Band Percussionists
What: Drum line practice  - we learn the field show, pep songs, and Parade March for the year.
Report Time: 9:00 a.m. 
Dismiss Time: 12:00 a.m.
What to bring & wear: Comfortable Clothes ( i.e. Tennis shoes, (no sandals), shorts, t-shirt, hat, sun glasses).  Suntan lotion, water, pencil, notebook 
Misc: This practice is so that we can adjust the line and begin to learn the field show music.  All marching band percussionists must attend unless.
