CV Jazz Band earned first place at the festival in the Advanced Division. We had 4 other schools in our division!!!!

Our Sax section and Rhythm section won Best Sections for the festival.

We also were awarded “Festival Champion.”. We scored the highest marks out of all the Bands in all of the divisions.

There were 16 total bands!!!! We have never done this well!!

Congratulations CV JAZZ BAND!

Results are in for Vegas!

1) Concert Band – Sweepstakes!
2) Jazz Band – Sweepstakes!
3) Symphony Orchestra – Sweepstakes!
4) Overall School – Sweepstakes!

Symphony also received a GOLD rating and was invited to play at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Next year!!

Three musicians received “Maestro Awards.”
1) Chris Cho
2) John Chu
3) J.C. Meyers

Sweepstakes goes to groups who receive the highest score out of all the participating groups.

  • Last Saturday’s Korean BBQ was a huge success!  Thank you to everyone who came out and supported CVIM!
  • Congratulations to Symphony Orchestra for earning a UNANIMOUS Superior at the Santa Monica High School SCSBOA Festival.
  • Audition requirements and dates for the 2012-13 Jazz and Symphony are now online.
  • Pops Concert ads and personal messages are a great way to show support for the Instrumental Music Program as well as create a beautiful Pops Concert Program.
  • Spring Trip to VEGAS!!!  We leave Thursday April 12th.  Be at School by 7:15am.  Vegas Packing List

    Last Wednesday, March 21st, the Concert Band and the Wind Ensemble both earned Superior ratings at the SCSBOA Baldwin Park Festival! 

    Concert Band sounded awesome as a very confident, large class “A” band and gave an performance which amazed the three judges!

    Wind Ensemble made history by earning their first Superior in the history of CV.  Simply remarkable!

    Both groups earned a Superior Rating in Sight-Reading.

    Next step, Regionals for THREE group!  Colony High School on May 18th!

       Please arrive in Concert Dress.  There WILL NOT be time to change before.
       Bring $$ for Lunch.

    Thursday March 22nd: Chaperone meeting for Vegas Trip
                                      7:00pm in Music Room

    Saturday, March 24th:  Fullerton Jazz Festival (Fullerton College)
                              Call Time: 7:00am, Return @1:00pm
