A Message from 2016-17 CVIM President

Mike LeFevre

First of all, my name is Michael LeFevre, current president of CVIM. When you meet me, please feel free to call me Mike. I have two boys in the instrumental music program this year. Dan is a junior and plays Sousaphone in marching band and Tuba in concert band. Sam is a senior and plays violin in symphony orchestra. When I was in high school and college in Ohio, I played Tuba and French horn in marching band and concert band, as well as numerous other ensembles. I still play piano, as does my wife. We are a fairly musical family. Music plays a daily part in all of our lives. This doesn’t make us particularly unique, as I’m certain that many of you have similar experiences. Let’s just say: music is important.

That said, we can all count our children lucky to have such a strong music program here at CVHS. Actually, the Glendale school district as a whole does a great job with the resources it has with regard to the music programs throughout the city. This all culminates at the high school level and CV’s performing groups consistently rank in the highest tiers of local, regional, and state competitions. And a lot of that has to do with CVIM, our instrumental music program’s foundation.

Without CVIM’s support — both financial and volunteered time and effort — it would be hard, if not impossible, to maintain our current degree of excellence. And that’s where YOU come in. I strongly encourage EVERY parent and/or guardian of a student-musician to participate in the efforts and decisions of CVIM by attending our monthly meetings. Foundation meetings are regularly scheduled on the second Tuesday evening of every month, from 7.00-8.00PM in the instrumental music room (#3106).

CVIM is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit charitable organization supporting the CVHS instrumental music program by raising money and providing volunteers for the instrumental music department. Any and all monetary donations to CVIM are fully tax-deductible. CVIM efforts include: Symphony Orchestra, Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, and Jazz Band.

Thank you in advance for your steadfast and enthusiastic participation and support. Music is a great place for our teens to be spending their time throughout their high school days.  Poke around our website and find something you can do to help. And remember, every time you help out, you’re a hero to someone!
